Ultrafast Scanning with Uniform Illumination

IVIM Technology's All-in-One intravital microscopes feature an ultrafast rotating polygonal mirror scanner that facilitates high-speed in vivo imaging with live animal models. IVIM Technology has successfully commercialized a high-speed biological microscope distinguished by its application of a unique scanning method which uses a high-speed rotating polygon mirror. This innovational method enables stable and rapid laser scanning with a uniform pattern, setting it apart from existing products worldwide. This capability allows for the rapid acquisition of clear, high-resolution biological microscope images by continuously capturing tissues moving within living organisms due to cardiac movement and respiration.
The high-speed imaging capability enables the observation of various rapid biological phenomena, including physiological functions such as blood flow, changes in tissue microenvironments, and drug delivery, all in high spatiotemporal resolution without performance limitations. Furthermore, the system minimizes image distortion and quality degradation caused by tissue movement by capturing images at speeds significantly faster than the movement of living tissues. Our proprietary algorithm-based motion correction technology further enhances image quality by effectively correcting the diverse movements of different organs within living tissues, ensuring optimized biological microscope image acquisition.

Top-Speed Optical Scanner

The fastest optical scanning technology currently available for use, in both confocal and multiphoton microscopes is the rotating polygon mirror scanner. This remains the world's highest imaging speed implemented using unidirectional linear scanning methods. The imaging frame rate in this approach can be adjusted based on the number of facets of the polygon mirror or the rotational speed of the motor. We have developed standardized imaging speeds of 30 fps and high-speed 50 fps to meet the requirements of real-time imaging experiments in biological microscopy, thus ensuring optimal long-term stability and performance as suggested by our customers.

The high-speed rotating polygon mirror scanner offers advantages beyond achieving ultra-fast imaging. Unlike resonant mirror scanners, which scan rapidly but concentrate laser illumination unevenly across the scanning area edges, the polygon mirror scanner uniformly illuminatesthe sample with the laser over the scanning area due to its unidirectional linear scanning capability at high speeds. This significantly reduces photobleaching and photodamage on fluorescent samples compared to resonant scanners, where laser concentration at the edges of the scanning area can occur.
